Realm of the Titans taking sign ups for alpha test

Last December we first reported on Realm of the Titans, an upcoming Defense of the Ancients-type of online action-RTS game from Aeria Games. Today the publisher announced that it is taking sign ups for the game's first alpha test.

The sign-ups are being taken at the Aeria Games message boards and the application clearly shows that the development team are looking for testers who are familiar with similar games like DOTA, League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth. Players who are picked will be contacted to start the alpha test sometime in April. A closed beta test is still scheduled for this spring.

Realm of the Titans announced

Are you ready for yet another game "inspired" by Defense of the Ancients? Aeria Games is hoping the answer to that question is, "Yes". Today the free-to-play publisher announced that it has acquired the Western rights to Realm of the Titans (yes, that is the title) which is being developed by Ningbo SG-TY.

The game will feature over 50 champions that will fight it out over battlefield that will let players control neutral monsters on the battlefield. Look for a detailed inventory system, features made specifically for the pro gamer and even some features that have been put in DoTA such as denying your opponents gold by killing your own minions. Closed beta testing will begin sometime in 2011.

Dynasty Warriors Online coming to the US and Europe

The Dynasty Warriors games from publisher Koei have been a console staple in both the US and Japan for a number of years but the hack-and-slash historical game series hasn't had much of a PC history. Now the franchise is about to make a bigger impact on the PC in the US and Europe as Aeria Games has announced plans to launch Dynasty Warriors Online.

Aeria Games is already taking sign ups to beta test the free-to-play online game. If you are familiar with the Dynasty Warriors formula you might guess that the online version has lots of sword play, lots of characters on screen, lots of massive combos and generally lots of "stuff". The MMO part of the game includes character customization, solo and party quests and Player Vs. Player modes with support for up to two teams of 12 players. There's no word yet on when the game will officially launch.

Shadowbane's life extended to July 1 (and maybe longer)

Players of the long running fantasy MMO Shadowbane have gotten a new lease on life. The Ubisoft-published game was supposed to shut down its servers on May 1 after a five year run. However the game's life has now been extended two more months to July 1, according to a post on the game's official message boards. It states, "This should allow the community enough time to play out its final days appropriately."

Not only that, but the game could go on for even longer. Our sister site Massively reports that free-to-play MMO company Aeria Games is chatting with Ubisoft about possibly taking over Shadowbane, if messages on the company's Twitter feed are to be believed. It's unknown if the game's current developer, Stray Bullet Games, would continue if Shadowbane were to keep going under a new publisher.
