Rise of Prussia to be released March 9

Paradox Interactive's extremely busy release schedule for 2010 includes releasing the historical strategy game Rise of Prussia. This week the publisher announced that the game will be made available on March 9 via digital download. It's the first game from developer AGEOD since being acquired by Paradox back in December.

The game itself is set in the 18th century in Europe during the Seven Years' War. Players can take sides, either as the Prussian-British alliance or the opposing side composed of Austria, Russia, France and other nations (in real life the Prussian-British side won the war). Look for 12 battle scenarios, seven year-long campaign scenarios and one massive campaign that spans the entire war of 1756-1763.

Paradox Interactive acquires AGEOD development studio

Developer/publisher Paradox Interactive has bought the publishing rights to a number of strategy games over the years. Today the company announced they are actually acquiring a established game developer. The company is France-based AGEOD which launched in 2005 and has created a number of historical strategy games over the past few years including Birth of America, AGEOD's American Civil War, Napoleon's Campaigns and War in America.

Financial details of the acquisition were not revealed. However, Paradox stated that AGEOD would continue to run as a stand alone studio with its own development team with Paradox now handling their publishing duties. The first game based on the new agreement is Rise of Prussia which will be released in the first quarter of 2010.
