Diablo 3 trailer gets fancy with artisans

Most role-playing games have shopkeepers scattered around the world. They are instantly willing to trade with the player, buying and selling whatever the adventurer desires. With Diablo 3, Blizzard's tradition of improving on classic design elements is continued with the addition of artisans. Unique shopkeepers with storylines, quests, and even individual levels, it looks like Blizzard is aiming to personalize the Diablo experience even more.

Some of the important bits about artisans in this trailer include the concept of crafting, leveling up your artisan, gaining their trust, creating sockets on items, and scavenging. We are especially interested in the concept of alternative resources to gold, and how this relates to crafting and leveling up. It's not a particularly exciting trailer, unless you are into the minutiae of the average action RPG.

Boot Disk: Diablo

Sometimes you just need to sit down, slide a floppy into your A: drive, and enjoy gaming retro style. We know this all too well! That's why we have a list of the best and brightest from days long gone. These are some of our favorite games of all time, and we're sure that you'll love them as much as we do, if not more. Welcome to Boot Disk, and enjoy the retro ride!

It was mentioned in the All You Need To Know for Diablo III that Diablo was founded upon some simple rogue-like principles. Randomized dungeons, shrines, unidentified equipment, and many other different elements were mixed into a single action-packed experience. However, you shouldn't simply take our word for it. Diablo is still available for purchase over a decade since its release, and is still one of the best games out there. It's also fascinating to see the evolution of the genre it created, as Diablo is very different from other games of its kind such as Dungeon Siege or even its own sequel. While you may have played all the games it inspired, it's always good to get a taste of a classic.

This trailer for Kingdom Under Fire II, an action RPG expected to release on the PC, Xbox 360 and possibly the PlayStation 3, uses in-game footage. The game isn't scheduled to release until some time in 2009, but it's looking very good so far, with detailed graphics and highly populated battlefields... and let's not forget giant sized creatures.

Pan shows up in Rise of the Argonauts video

The mythological satyr known as Pan makes an appearance in Rise of the Argonauts, who the crew will encounter during the course of the adventure. As seen in this cinematic video, he's neither human nor animal, and therefore cast out from both worlds. Players will have to wait until the game's mid-October release date to find out how the creature fits into the game's grand story.

Space Siege developer diaries answer burning questions

Despite having very little PR hype leading up to its release tomorrow, Space Siege is still a game to keep an eye on. These two developer diaries answer most outstanding questions about what Space Siege is about, particularly how it differs from Dungeon Siege. The sci-fi themed action RPG puts players in the role of Seth Walker as he makes his way through a alien-infested colony ship carrying the last of the human race. This streaming video only covers the first developer's diary.

Space Siege trailer proves corridor crawls beat dungeon crawls

Big Download has the second trailer for Gas Powered Games' Space Siege, the successor to the very popular Dungeon Siege series.

As you might guess from the title, Space Siege is Dungeon Siege in space. Imagine that! The trailer shows off the new setting, various enemies, and players' finishing moves. We're impressed by the graphical quality and the uniqueness of the setting. Well, okay, the setting's not particularly unique in the grand scheme of things; but it's a nice change of pace for the action-RPG genre!
