First two Tex Murphy games now free until Christmas Eve on GoG.com

Several months ago, GoG.com became the only place where you could (legally) purchase and download the classic Tex Murphy adventure games from Access Software. Today GoG.com is offering a great early Christmas present as it gives away the first two games in the series (Mean Streets and Martians Memorandum) for free. The offer ends on Christmas Eve (December 24 for those who might not know). And for those of you who have already bought the games from GoG.com, don't fret; they have a secret alternate offer just for you.

In related news, GoG.com has added Riven: The Sequel to Myst, to their library of games. You can purchase and download the Cyan Worlds-developed adventure game for $5.99

Tex Murphy games on sale at GoG.com

GoG.com has finished celebrating its first anniversary but it's still got some cool sales for this weekend. From now until 11:59 pm ET on Monday the DRM-free PC game download site is offering all of the games in the classic Tex Murphy adventure games from Access Software for 30 percent off their normal GoG.com. price.

By the way, GoG.com has also posted up some interesting first year stats on the web site itself. While there are no business numbers revealed like revenue or profit figures, it does reveal that GoG.com uses 110 GB of hard drive space to hold all of the installers for its 155 games.

Tex Murphy Overseer added to GoG.com; new racing game sale

GoG.com recently got the rights to all of the Tex Murphy adventure games from the now former Access Software. Today they have added the fifth and final game in the series to their DRM-free PC game library. Tex Murphy Overseer, first released in 1998, can now be downloaded exclusively at GoG.com for $9.99. The download comes with a free manual, its music sountrack, avatars and wallpaper.

In other GoG.com news, they have put three of their racing games on sale from now until the end of the day on Monday. Colin McRae Rally 2005, Screamer and MegaRace 3 are all on sale for 50 percent off their normal GoG.com prices. In fact, GoG.com will soon lose the rights to sell Colin McRae Rally 2005 so this will be the last chance to get the game at such a low price.

The Pandora Directive added to GoG.com

Earlier this month, the DRM-free web site GoG.com announced they had gotten the exclusive rights to offer downloads of the great Tex Murphy adventure game titles from the now defunct Access Software. Today GoG.com has added the fourth game in the series to its site, The Pandora Directive.

First released in 1996, this game continued the trend of the series having full motion video that started with the previous Tex Murphy title Under an Killing Moon. It also boasts some Hollywood actors in the cast including Tanya Roberts, Barry Corbin and Kevin McCarthy. You can download the full game from GoG.com for just $9.99.

Tex Murphy games now available on GoG.com

Fans of the classic Tex Murphy adventure games from the now defunct Access Software have reason to be happy today. The folks at our favorite DRM-free game download site GoG.com have announced that they have gotten the rights to sell all of the games in this series on their site.

They already have the first three games available for download. The first two titles, Mean Streets and Martian Memorandum, can be bought in a collection for just $5.99. That comes with manuals for both games, avatars, and a Mean Streets info chart and map. The third game in the series, Under a Killing Moon (and the first to use full motion video) can be bought for $9.99 at GoG.com. It comes with the manual, avatars and the in-game soundtrack.

Of course if you want to check out what the creators of the Tex Murphy games are up to now you can download a demo of their newly released game, Three Cards to Midnight, right here at Big Download.
