Lego Star Wars III The Clone Wars delayed again to March 22

We've been looking forward to playing Lego Star Wars III The Clone Wars but it looks like the latest game in the long running family friendly Star Wars game series is going to take a little longer to complete.

The game from developer Traveller's Tales and publisher LucasArts was supposed to be released last fall but the release date got pushed back to February 15. Now Gamershell reports that the game will be delayed a few more weeks to March 22. This new date has been confirmed as the GameStop and Amazon.com web sites that now reflect the new shipping date. No specific reason for the delay was announced.

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game announced

Lego Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game, the latest Lego-based game in the long-running franchise from developer TT Games, has just been announced by its publisher Disney Interactive. The game is due out in May 2011 for the PC and other platforms around the same time Disney releases the fourth movie in the hugely popular Pirates of the Caribbean series.

The game will incorporate storylines from all four movies as well as over 70 of the movie's characters as they explore and battle through 20 levels. Like most of the other Lego games, this new entry will also have support for two player co-op mode.

Disney Interactive recently decided to cancel plans to release the long-in-development RPG Pirates of the Caribbean: Armada of the Damned. The cancellation of that game also caused mass layoffs at its developer Propaganda Games.

Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 on NASCAR ride tonight

NASCAR racer Joey Logano has been driving the number 20 car in the Nationwide series with GameStop as its main sponsor for some time. Each week the car gets a new paint job promoting an upcoming or recent game release (we especially enjoyed the BioShock 2 design). Tonight Logano races in the Dollar General 300 in Chicago with his latest GameStop car design.'

This week its promoting Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4, the most recent of the Lego games from developer Traveller's Tales. Somehow we don't think that when J.K. Rowling created Harry, Hogwarts or the rest of that universe she would have imagined a Lego video game based on her books, much less seeing it plastered all over an American race car.

Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 PC demo coming in late June

Developer Traveller's Tales' latest Lego game is about to be released and today publisher Warner Bros. Interactive announced that a demo for Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 is in the works as well. The demo, based on the hugely successful fantasy novels and movies, will be released for the PC sometime late in June. In addition to being able to learn how to cast spells in the game the demo will let players explore one of the game's locations, the Forbidden Forest.

The full game, which takes place in the time period of the first four Harry Potter movies and books, is scheduled for release on June 29 in the US.

Lego Harry Potter's release pushed back from May to June

Fans of Traveller's Tales' various Lego-based games are going to have to wait just a little longer to get their hands on their latest effort. Shacknews is reporting that Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 won't make it's planned May release date. The title, based on the first four books and movies in the fantasy franchise, will now be released sometime in June.

Lego Harry Potter is just the latest Lego-based game Traveller's Tales hav worked on. They started with Lego Star Wars and expanded into other pop culture areas like Batman and Indiana Jones. Besides Harry Potter, the team is working on a new Lego game built around the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series.

Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars announced

LucasArts loves their Lego-based games. After releasing several games based on the six Star Wars movies and two Indiana Jones games, the publisher is teaming up once again with developer Traveller's Tales for the latest game in the series, Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars. The game is based on the popular CGI animated series that's in its second year on the Cartoon Network.

The game itself will not only feature characters from the TV series but some characters from the Star Wars movies as well. You can also expect to use extra abilities like long distance Jedi attacks, lightsaber slicing and more. The game is due for release for the PC and pretty much every other game platforms this fall.

E3 2009: Lego Harry Potter revealed

Once again in the "Not a shock" catagory, Warner Bros. Interactive announced plans to release a Lego game version of Warner Bros.' Harry Potter movies. Developed by Lego game masters Traveller's Tales, Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 will be based on the first four movies and book in the massively popular fantasy series created by J.K.Rowling.

Yes you can play as Lego versions of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Grange and experience playing in Hogwarts and other locations found in the series and book. The game is still a ways off; it won't be released until sometime in 2010. Traveller's Tales already has a number of other Lego game projects in the works.

Lego Indiana Jones 2 announced

The rumors seem to be true. today LucasArts announced that they are prepping a sequel to 2008's family-oriented action game Lego Indiana Jones. The sequel will once again be developed by Traveller's Tales (masters of all things in Lego games) and is due out this fall for the PC and many other platforms.

From the press release it seems like this will be a combo sequel-remake as it will feature gamers playing through the plots of the first three Indiana Jones movies just like the first game did. However Lego Indiana Jones 2 will also add the fourth (and crappiest) movie in the series, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. LucasArts is also promising a level editor for the game as well. It will be the first time that any Lego game will have level creation support.

New Lego game rumors include a possible Hobbit title?

We've reported in the past about various rumors surrounding what Lego-based games will be coming from developer Traveller's Tales. We've heard rumors of a Lego Harry Potter title, a second Indiana Jones game and even the most unlikely rumor of all; a Lego Rock Band game.

Now it appears that at least the Harry Potter and Indiana Jones rumors have gotten more substantial. Numerous online outlets have reported that the web site of a Traveller's Tales animator revealed she was working on both projects for the developer. Not only that but she also posted that a demo pitch for a Hobbit game based on the upcoming movie adaptation of the J.R.R. Tolkien book. (the site has since removed those references). It's pretty clear that we should learn more about their Lego projects sooner rather than later.

Lego Batman: The latest threat to children?

As long as there have been PC and video games some people have tried to make the case that they are bad for kids. But is this going a tad too far. The consumer watchdog group Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood has launched their first annual TOADY (Toys Oppressive And Destructive to Young Children) Award. Five finalists have been named and one of them is...Lego Batman?

Not Grand Theft Auto IV? Not Left 4 Dead? Nope, this organization says the recent Traveller's Tales Lego game is harmful to kids. Their claim is that the design of Lego Batman is destructive, saying "....instead of deciding what to build next, children choose which cyber weapons to use to beat up their opponent." They also take issue with the game's rating (E 10+) while also promoting the game via a McDonald's Happy Meal package (they also try to tie in the game to The Dark Knight movie which is stretching at best).

It's clear that this organization has some very radical ideas when it comes to toys that are harmful to kids. We shutter to think what their opinion is of Lego Star Wars (light saber battles) or Lego Indiana Jones (where we have to see a Lego Alfred Molina).
