Monday Night Combat trailer crosses over with more franchises

Monday Night Combat is one of the better multiplayer shooters out there, and it's finally left beta on the PC. To commemorate the occasion, the developers at Uber Entertainment have released a launch trailer that shows off almost every aspect of gameplay. In addition, they have also crossed over with two other incredibly popular franchises: Team Fortress 2 and Penny Arcade. This trailer shows off the different additions to both MNC and TF2, as well as the new Penny Arcade bot. Let's just leave it that it's mildly not safe for work.

Killing Floor trailer celebrates a glorious gory Christmas.

Valve is intent on selling Team Fortress 2 as much as they can, and a collaboration with indie developer Tripwire Interactive is one of those ways. Tripwire has already released details on their upcoming Christmas update for Killing Floor, which includes reskins for every major enemy, a slew of new achievements, and a new unlockable character. Included is also a special unlock for those players that also own TF2. TF2 players get the gas mask and tie from the Mr. Foster character, while Killing Floor players get the TF2's Pyro done in Killing Floor style. This trailer shows it all, so if you were on the fence regarding Killing Floor, now seems like a better time than ever to get the game.

Review: Poker Night at the Inventory

Telltale Games got their start, interestingly enough, making a poker game. While they are far better known now for their cavalcade of licensed adventure games (all of which are, at the very least, decent), they were original a company that wanted you to play poker. They combined their two loves in their latest game, and it resulted in Poker Night at the Inventory. It mixes traditional poker sim gameplay with adventure-game dialogue, and the result is probably the best single-player poker game on the market. Despite this, it does have its flaws, and those wishing to try their luck at beating the four diverse characters in the line-up had better be prepared for a little frustration.

Guide to TF2 2010 Scarechievements

We are writing this guide from inside a padded cell, as last year's TF2 Halloween update drove us positively insane. After all, with all the spooky ghosts, draculas, exploding pumpkins, and horrifying masks, we just couldn't handle it anymore. We assure you, though, that our love for TF2 is as pure as our hair is white. From being spooked! While you may dismiss such supernatural notions, we have a list of tasks for you that we know will prove the existence of something beyond our realm. Such things as crazed Horsemenn, spooky gifts, and even a mask of Saxton Hale!

Team Fortress 2 adds microtransactions, trading [Update]

In what is likely to be a controversial (but not unpredictable) move, Valve has added microtransactions to their hat-simulator Team Fortress 2. The new Mann Co. Store functions much like the PSN store, only for items: put cash into your wallet, buy some items, use them. No gameplay-altering item is store exclusive, and most of the cosmetic items aren't either. A few, however, can't be acquired through drops and are solely available through the store now, like the Gentlemanne's Medal. We're really skeptical about the addition of microtransactions, especially given that there's no way to use the store using earnable currency like scrap metal. It's solely for paying customers.

Besides the microtransactions, this newest update adds the long-awaited trading feature, the ability to gift items, the Polycount pack, minigames (although we don't know what kind), and in-game customizable items. The item system is currently down in-game, presumably because it is being hammered by players. There's also a humorous comic which offers an in-universe explanation for the system.

Update: In addition to the new in-game trading and buying system, Team Fortress 2 is currently on sale via Steam for just $9.99, a 50 percent price cut from its normal price

Full patch notes after the cut.
