Risk Factions for PC now available on Steam

risk factions
Risk Factions, the downloadable console game based on the classic global war board game, has made a surprise appearance on the PC platform via Steam. The PC version was developer by Stainless Games and was first released for the Xbox 360's Xbox Live Arcade in June 2010 and for the PS3's Playstation Network in December 2010.

Fans of the original board game will notice a lot of difference in Risk Factions including the fact that there are five cartoony playable sides in the game (Humans, Robots, Zombies, Yeti and Cats). There's a single player campaign where players unlock the factions and multiplayer where players can battle each other with new objectives including "flooding" out enemies out of territories. The game is now available on Steam for $9.99.

Review: Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers

Although Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers features terrific animated 3D graphics that shows off the marvelous artwork, it takes a very straightforward approach to translating the Magic experience. The game, which has been available on Xbox Live Arcade for quite some time, makes its debut on the PC with one expansion pack (which can be purchased separately) and has all the features one would expect, including online dueling and cooperative play. It's also relatively inexpensive and presents an excellent opportunity for new players to get their first introduction to the Magic card game. At the same time, experienced players might not take as well to what amounts to a somewhat watered down experience compared to the real-life card game.

Happy Tree Friends False Alarm released via Steam

If you need a game that shows cute little cartoon characters killed in various bloody ways, you are in luck. As we reported last week, the game based on the cult cartoon hit Happy Tree Friends is now available for download and purchase. Currently the only place you can get the game is via Valve's Steam service.

The game, developed by Stainless Games and published by Sega, is titled Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm and lets you keep the cute characters in the series from being killed in a number of levels Lemmings-style. It also features new animation cut scenes as well. The game costs $19.99 to download via Steam.

Happy Tree Friends downloadable game coming next week

It's one of the cutest, yet bloodiest, cartoons that has ever been produced and now the game version of the cult sensation Happy Tree Friends is close to release. The game's publisher Sega announced that the downloadable title from developer Stainless Games will be made available for download for PC owners next week (it will also be released for Xbox 360 owners).

Titles Happy Tree Friends: False Alarm, the game has your playing the character of Lumpy as you guide the rest of the Happy Tree Friends through a series of levels and trying to make them avoid various death traps (and yes, it is very much like Lemmings). Needless to say this game has been rated "M" for pretty much all of the red stuff that will be generated while playing. Look for new original Happy Tree Friends video segments in the title as well. There's no word yet on what the pricing will be for the game.
