Sins Of A Solar Empire dev update

Ironclad Games' space strategy title Sins Of A Solar Empire has become a sleeper sales hit for the PC game industry. It has appeared near the top of the NPD Group's top 10 best selling PC games for nearly two months since its release in February and has racked up 200,000 sales copies so far. Not bad for a game that isn't published by any of the big publishers. IGN caught up with Brad Wardell, the CEO of the game's publisher Stardock, who explained that Stardock has actually helped Ironclad with developing the game (Stardock has some experience with the genre with their own Galactic Civilizations series). Wardell states that more patches to improve the game are coming and that an expansion pack is on the way as well although it sounds like it's just in the very early stages of development.

More info on next Sins of a Solar Empire patch

The surprise sales hit of 2008 in the PC game space has to be Sins Of A Solar Empire. Developer Ironclad Game and publisher Stardock's space strategy game has been near the top of the sales charts since its release in early February (and that's just in retail stores; digital downloads sales are reportedly even higher). A new update on the game's official web site has some info on an upcoming 1.04 version pack for the game which will have a lot of unit balance changes along with some AI and multiplayer fixes. While that's all well and good, we just want to know when the inevitable expansion pack is coming.
