Mount and Blade: With Fire And Sword gets Team Fortress 2 pre-order hats

The latest Team Fortress 2 tie-in with another game has been revealed. This time it's for the upcoming RPG stand alone expansion pack Mount and Blade: With Fire and Sword. People who own Valve's multiplayer shooter and pre-order the Taleworlds developed (and Paradox Interactive published) game by May 3 will get access to two exclusive items in TF2.

The two items are, naturally, in-game hats; the Hetman's Headpiece for the Engineer players, and the Janissary Ketche for the Spy characters. In related news, the recently released puzzle game SpaceChem has added three new team Fortress 2 levels to the game.

Magicka gets free Caverns challenge map and paid Marshlands map

A few days ago, fans of the sleeper hit action-RPG Magicka were asked to vote for which of two challenge maps would be released for free. Today the results were reveal and gamers can now download an update via Steam that will automatically add the new Caverns map to the game.

For folks who want to get the whole experience, the Mashlands map is also available to purchase and download via Steam for a mere $1.99. The map adds two new challenges, each with 20 waves of enemies, and some new spawn situations such as zombies coming out of the ground and goblins that use the elevator (apparently they were too tired to use the stairs).

Mount and Blade: With Fire and Sword goes gold; to be released May 3

The second expansion pack for the acclaimed indie RPG game Mount and Blade will be getting its next expansion pack very soon. Publisher Paradox Interactive has announced that the expansion, With Fire and Sword, has gone gold and will be released on May 3.

The expansion from developer Taleworlds will add, among other things, 15 new multiplayer maps for Mount and Blade. It also adds new weapons such as fireatms (muskets and pistols) and grenades and adds new castle siege features such as blowing up a wall or even bribing an officer to get into the enemy's defenses. The expansion pack will be sold for $14.99.

Two new Magicka challenge maps coming April 26; one for free

Hot on the heels of the release of the Magicka: Vietnam action-RPG expansion pack, developer Arrowhead Game Studios and publisher Paradox Interactive have announced that two more challenge maps for Magicka will be released on April 26.

The maps (Marshlands and Caverns) would normally cost $1.99 each to download, but Paradox has decided to release one of the challenge maps for free and is letting players vote for which map will be released next week for the price of nothing at all via the game's Facebook page. You can check out a trailer for the maps after the jump:

Magicka Vietnam gameplay footage takes us to the jungle

The sleeper PC game hit Magicka is getting an expansion pack next week titled (and we still can't quite believe it) Magicka Vietnam. The expansion for the fantasy action-RPG from developer Arrowhead Game Studios will only cost $4.99 but if you still think that's too much money to spend without some sort of preview, the Total Biscuit video preview has you covered.

It managed to get a beta code for the expansion and uploaded over 13 minutes of narrated video footage from the game that puts wizards deep in the jungle and fighting creatures with both magic and Vietnam War-era weapons. Enjoy.

Defenders of Ardania closed beta test sign ups begin today

Paradox Interactive' entry into the tower defense genre is close to starting its beta test. The publisher announced today that folks can sign up to beta test Defenders of Ardania at Paradox's web site.

People must sign up by next Monday, April 11, to be considered for the beta test. The lucky folks who get selected will be informed by April 15. The game itself, a spin-off of Paradox' Majesty series of fantasy town sim-RPG games, will have three playable races and a number of different units plus 24 upgradable towers. The game from developer Most Wanted Entertainment is due for release in the third quarter of 2011.

April Fool's 2011: King Arthur II The Role Playing War Game Vietnam announced

Paradox Interactive is actually releasing Magicka Vietnam later this month. So why not a second game that mixes fantasy with the Southeast Asian conflict? Today the publisher revealed that the previously announced plans for King Arthur II have now added some Vietnam elements.

Paradox has already said on this April Fool's day that this announcement will be a "paradigm shift in the gaming industry as a whole." Indeed the publisher announced that even more of its games will get Vietnam connections such as Sword of the Stars II: Vietnam, Europa Universalis: Vietnam, Vietnam: The MMOVRGP and then finally with Vietnam: Vietnam at the end of 2011. At which point the universe will likely swallow Paradox whole from stopping everything from being labeled as Vietnam.

Magicka Vietnam due out on April 12 for $4.99

Magicka, the first surprise hit PC game of 2011, now has a release date for its first major expansion pack, Magicka Vietnam. Publisher Paradox Interactive has announced that the expansion pack will be released on April 12 via digital download for just $4.99.

The parody of action-RPG games puts the Wizards in the jungle and armed with machine guns as well as magic. Their goal? They are going all Rambo by trying to rescue POWs from an interment camp. The expansion from developer Arrowhead Game Studios will also contain a new survival challenge map with increased difficultly levels.

Darkest Hour trailer has lots of menus

Want to see a game that has lots of menus to go through? Then you are at the right place this morning. Paradox Interactive will be releasing Darkest Hour in just a couple of days and the game's official trailer shows the old fashioned gameplay for the company's latest strategy game.

Just a reminder: This game was actually created by a group of mod makers who wanted to make their own version of Paradox' WWII strategy game Hearts of Iron II. Look for new campaigns that span from WWI to the Cold War and an improved AI system, among many other changes.
