OnLive's free first year offer to end in 2010; 50 percent game sale this weekend

Since launching last June the OnLive streaming PC/Mac gaming service continues to be the only way for many gamers with low hardware specs to play high-end PC games. Today the company revealed three new announcements for its service. First, the Founding Members program, which was scheduled to end on Labor Day, has now been extended to December 31. This means you still have a chance to use the OnLive service for free for one year with an optional second year at $4.95 a month.

Second, current OnLive users will get to purchase all of the games currently on the service (all 28 of them) at 50 percent off their normal prices this Labor Day weekend. That includes recently released games like Kane and Lynch 2 and Mafia 2. Finally, later in September OnLive will begin to support PCs and Macs with WiFi connections via a beta program. WiFi will be demoed for folks who attend PAX Prime this weekend.

Report: OnLive valued at $1.1 billion

Launched last June, the OnLive streaming PC/Mac gaming service has been slowly adding to its list of titles that it has available to its customers. While the company is privately owned and has so far not revealed how many subscribers it has, VentureBeat reports that the company could be worth as much as $1.1 billion.

That's according to a regulatory filing in the state of Delaware and some analysis of the filing from Justin Byers, analyst at VCExperts.com. OnLive has gotten investment money from a number of sources including AT&T and Warner Bros. The company also has investments from BT and Belgacom Group who plan to launch OnLive in the UK and Belgium, respectively. OnLive has not commented on the filing report.

OnLive extends free Founding Members program to Labor Day

The OnLive streaming PC game service has been live to the public for just over a month. Just before its launch the company announced that it would allow people to sign up to use the service free for one year with an option to continue for a second year for $4.95 a month. That deal was supposed to expire on July 15. Now the official OnLive Twitter page has announced that the Founding Members deal has been extended to Labor Day (September 6).

There is still a Waiting List to be accepted into the Founding members deal but its clear that OnLive wants to get as many people as possible to try out the service. One other bit of news is that the full version of Frozenbyte's puzzle-platformer game Trine is available to purchase and play on OnLive. Previously only the free demo version of the game was available to play on OnLive.

OnLive's pricing structure for games revealed

As we mentioned in our first hands-on impressions article for the newly launched OnLive streaming PC game service, the games that are currently available to play on OnLive have a variety of pricing structures ranging from full purchases to being able to rent the game for a few days. For those of you who love lists here is the current line-up of games and their prices for both full versions and rentals. Naturally new games will be added to OnLive in the future so the current list is very much subject to change.

Keep in mind some games cannot be rented and other don't offer full purchases. In addition three games on the service (Colin McRae: DiRT 2 , LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4 and Trine) are only available as free demos at the moment.
