New Star Wars: The Old Republic player class revealed

While the game's official web site has not posted this news year, Eurogamer is reporting that BioWare has revealed the latest player class for their long awaited MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic. During a press event for the game, it was revealed that the Imperial Agent will be one of the eight player classed in the game.

The Imperial Agent, who obviously is with the Empire faction, sounds like the game's version of a super-spy as they have access to lots of high technology and do their work behind the scenes. The Imperial Agent joins the previously revealed classes of Jedi Knights, Smugglers and Troopers on the Republic side and the Sith Warriors and Bounty Hunters working for the Empire. Two more classes are unrevealed.

LEGO Indiana Jones 2 trailer transforms from movie to game

As a treat for Indiana Jones fans, this is the LucasArts put together this video using footage from the bar scene from the original movie Raiders of the Lost Ark. Jedi Knights revealed as latest class in Star Wars: The Old Republic

Well here's a shocker. Star Wars: The Old Republic, the upcoming MMO from BioWare, EA and LucasArts will have . . . Jedi Knights as a playable class. We have to admit that we didn't see that development coming a mile away. Ok, we did. In fact we think there would be an uproar if Jedi Knights were not in the game that would make the current Modern Warfare 2 debates look pale by comparison.

In any case the game's official web site now has the Jedi Knight listed as a playable class in the upcoming MMO and we suspect there will be lots of battles between that class and the previously announced Sith Warrior faction. There's still no release date for the game but many expect it might launch in late 2010.

Fourth Tales of Monkey Island chapter due on Friday

Last week we reported that Telltale Games was planning to release the fourth chapter in their LucasArts published adventure game Tales of Monkey Island this week. Now Telltale has narrowed that release date down, saying the fourth installment in the series will be released on Friday.

Telltale has also served up some advanced screenshots from the fourth chapter, titled The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood. In this Law and Order-ish episode our favorite ship captain has to defend himself in court against false charges and an "smooth-talking prosecutor". With just one more chapter left in the series, can Guybrush escape the long arm of the law? We have our money on him but we could be wrong . . .

Fourth Tales of Monkey Island chapter due next week

It's getting near the end of October which means Telltale Games is also getting close to releasing their next chapter in the LucasArts published adventure game series Tales of Monkey Island. Today, Telltale revealed that the fourth chapter in the series, The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood, is due for its digital download release sometime next week.

As they always do, Telltale has posted up a Flash animation teaser for their next chapter on their web site. Actually, it's mostly a fun way for the developer to create some extra funny stuff that in reality has little to do with the real game that they will release next week. But it's still worth watching.

Hardware requirements revealed for PC Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Last year, when LucasArts released the console version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, the publisher claimed the game couldn't be released on the PC because the system requirements would be too high. That was disproven earlier this summer when LucasArts announced (shocker) a PC port of the game.

Now the PC version's developer, Aspyr Media, has revealed the PC system requirements for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition. As we have reported before, the PC version will have all of the content of the original console game plus some extra missions. You can check out the system specs after the jump:

Review: Lucidity

LucasArts has been lagging behind in original content over the past few years. Once known for their incredibly engaging and original games, they have instead focused on expanding their established franchises of Star Wars and Indiana Jones. As a part of the revitalization of old and original LucasArts properties, the Secret of Monkey Island game was remade in high-definition. One the team was done with Monkey Island, they decided to make something else. Something original. Lucidity was the result of this. A mixture of puzzle, adventure, and platformer genres, it's nostalgic both through its simple gameplay and in the notion that LucasArts genuinely wants to create new, valuable properties for their portfolio. It may not be mind-blowing, but it's not half bad either.

New planet revealed for Star Wars: The Old Republic

BioWare Austin's work on Star Wars: The Old Republic is looking better every time they reveal some new screenshot or piece of into. Today the upcoming MMO's web site has revealed yet another planet players will get to check out in the full game. This time it's Balmorra, a planet from the Expanded Universe side of Star Wars (in fact it was first mentioned in the Dark Horse Comics series Star Wars: Dark Empire II).

In Star Wars: The Old Republic, Balmorra is a prime location for droid and weapons manufactoring (as you can tell from the above screenshot with the massive ion cannons show). As such the Republic and the Sith Empire would love to control it. We are betting there will be lots of blood spilled in the game over this location.

LEGO Indiana Jones 2 dev video builds a new adventure

This developer video for LEGO Indiana Jones 2 runs through some of the game's many new features. The story covers plots from the Indiana Jones films, including Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but will not have any repeat material from the previous game. The sequel will also include a two-player co-op mode and the ability to literally build a mission using LEGO pieces. The game is expected to release later this fall, but those that want to relive the fun from the first game can download the demo here.

Star Wars - Republic Heroes learns to activate a super battle droid

Normally, we'd classify this kind of how-to video for Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes under "don't try this at home," but seeing as how this kid is clearly working out of his garage, we don't see the harm. Our question is, were you expecting the droid to attack the cameraman too? Especially when the kid says, just get a friend to distract the droid...

Republic Heroes released today, so you have a chance to try these neat little tactics out for yourself.
