Original design doc for first Grand Theft Auto game emerges
Back in 1995, the the old days when dinosaurs ruled the Earth (at least we think so; we are bad about time periods), a game development studio called DMA Design created a design document for a proposed game called Race'n'Chase. While most of you may have never heard of the game before you may have heard of what the proposal turned into; the first Grand Theft Auto game.
Now one of the original designers of that game, Mike Dailly, has posted up the original design document for that title on his Flickr page. The first design was for a multiplayer car game but there are certainly elements that showed up in the final Grand Theft Auto title which was released for the PC back in October 1997. That included the idea of stealing cars that might attract the attention of the police.
