This week PC gamers can expect to see the official launch of a long-in-development MMO along with the latest game in a long running RTS series and a game that's also supposed to be a teaching tool about global climate change.

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II Retribution - Developer Relic Entertainment and publisher THQ brings us this latest entry in its RTS game series. This stand alone game has several playable factions including the Imperial Guard, each of which gets their own single player campaign. Expect to see new multiplayer content in this game as well along with Steamworks support.

Fate of the World due for release February 28

A game that aims to be more that just an entertainment is now due for release on February 28 via download. The game is called Fate of the World and while on the surface it appears to be a global near-future themed strategy game it also has the aim of teaching people who play it about the real aspects of climate change.

Developed by Red Redemption, the game is now available for pre-order for $9.99 via the game's official web site. The game has you in charge of a fictional group who used real world info and data to decide how to use the Earth's dwindling resources to continue to support the growing population of Earth through two centuries and several different scenarios. There's still time to pre-order the game in order to gain access to its currently running beta version. You can check out a gameplay trailer for Fate of the World after the break.
