A game publisher that at one time was one of the biggest in the PC game industry could be shutting down operations. The German language investor site for CDV has posted a press release announcing it has filed for insolvency in a Frankfurt court.

Launched in 1989, the company was a major PC game publisher just a few years ago with titles like the Blitzkrieg and Codename Panzers series. They also have a subsidiary in the US who recently released titles like the PC retail version of Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter and Divinity 2. Recently CDV had been in legal fights with US based Southpeak Games over breaches of contract.

The action fantasy role-playing games allows players to take the role of a Dragon Slayer who becomes a Dragon Knight (a warrior that can transform into a fire breathing dragon) to overcome a danger that threatens all of Rivellon. "Many years have passed since the darkness of Damian's armies was repelled and Damian was banished into another realm by man's Demigod hero, the Divine. While men enjoy their first years of real peace, Damian breaks free from his bonds and returns to the world of Rivellon to take vengeance on he who imprisoned him. To do so, Damian takes control of the minds of the world's rarest and most powerful beings: the Dragon Knights, whom he unleashes on to the world. It is one of them who kills the Divine. With the dragons now on the side of evil, many young men and women of Rivellon have taken up the role of ridding the world of these dragons – they are known as Dragon Slayers."

This patch updates the retail box version of Divinity 2 to v1.03. Patch includes a number of bug fixes and game enhancements, and is available for English, Spanish, Italian, French and German releases. The playable demo can be downloaded here.

The fantasy role-playing game Divinity 2 lets players access a wide range of skills, including calling upon the undead to do their bidding. The great part is, players can mix and match body parts from slain enemies to create a truly fearsome creature. Divinity 2 is available in stores now and the playable demo can be downloaded here.

The Necromancer is "a collector of limbs and other parts of fallen enemies who resides on your Battle Tower, waiting to do your bidding. The Necromancer's chief talent: combining body parts to release the power of "The Creature", a custom-created "pet" that player's can party up with for extra healing or tanking power. Using over 70 different skills across a variety of different weapons, players are free to make warrior mages or whatever type of character they can imagine. The game is scheduled to release on January 5, 2010.

It looks like there are plenty of advantages to being a dragon slayer with an identity crisis. For example, instead of having to hole up in a in a shack somewhere, Divinity 2 players will have an entire battle tower to call their own. Here, they can relax, train in skill, count their treasure, customize their mounts among many other activities. The game is scheduled to release on January 5, 2010.
