The newest patch for Arma II: Operation Arrowhead updates the game from v1.50 or above to v1.57. Highlights include improved game performance and four new scenarios for owners of the Private Military Company expansion.

The newest patch for Arma II: Operation Arrowhead updates the game to v1.56. Highlights include a trimmed down version of the Private Military Company DLC expansion (called Arma 2: Private Military Company Lite). All units, vehicles and weapons from the DLC are available with lower quality textures and audio files. You'll have to purchase the Private Military Company DLC in order to gain access to high quality textures and audio.

These separate patches update the individual retail releases of Arma II to v1.08, Operation Arrowhead to v1.55 and the British Armed Forces DLC expansion to v1.01. Those that love level creation will definitely enjoy these two Operation Arrowhead trailers. Well, actually, calling them trailers is a bit disingenuous. They are more along the lines of video tutorials, and they cover the modding system of Operation Arrowhead in quite some depth. The first tutorial, above, details the basics of mission creation: placement of objects, creating triggers, and linking events together. The second tutorial, below, goes into a little more detail with the scripting system. It's worth paying extra attention to the second trailer, as the developer does some tricks you might not notice if you just casually glance at it. While they aren't full of gameplay footage, they're intriguing regardless

Today is the last day for our ArmA II: Combined Operations giveaway where we will give two boxed retail copies of the Bohemia Interactive game and its Operation Arrowhead expansion to two of our readers. Oh and next week there's a new PC game that's being released. It's from an up and coming developer named Blizzard who are releasing a sequel to their acclaimed but little known sci-fi RTS title StarCraft. Developer Bohemia Interactive has just released the Operation Arrowhead expansion pack for its military shooter ArmA 2 (by the way did you know that we are running an ArmA II giveaway?) but that's apparently not all they have planned for the game. Today the developer announced ArmA 2 British Armed Forces, a downloadable expansion pack that adds the British faction to the game.

In addition to the British troops themselves the expansion will add a number of new weapons and vehicles to the game along with a new single player campaign that has the UK faction taking on the Takistani insurgents. New co-op multiplayer missions with the British troops will also be available. The expansion will be made available for download on August 26 for $9.99.

The playable demo for Arma II: Operation Arrowhead includes:

• Singleplayer mission Coltan Blues from the main campaign
• Singleplayer scenarios Benchmark and Little Bird
• 3 Boot Camp scenarios: Basic, Driving and Helicopter tutorials
• Multiplayer missions Hike In The Hills and One Shot One Kill
• Multiplayer template Team Deathmatch
• Mission Editor with save/load option
