Call of Duty Black Ops Escalation's new zombie level gets all star voice cast

It's rare that a DLC for a game gets an all star voice acting cast but that's what's happening with the new zombie level included in the upcoming Call of Duty Black Ops Escalation map pack. The zombie map is titled Call of the Dead and will be set on a frozen ship.

The four playable characters in the level, as you can see in the above "grindhouse movie" style trailer, are modeled after and voiced by genre actor favorites like Robert Englund, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Michael Rooker and Danny Trejo. Oh and the king of zombie movie directors, George Romero himself, shows up as a big and nasty zombie. The map pack will be released in a week for the Xbox 360 console with the PC version likely due out about a month after that.

Prototype 2 trailer gives us Mercer vs Heller

Prototype 2 is still a ways away from release (it's not due out until sometime in 2012) but the upcoming open world action game sequel is getting yet another marketing trailer from publisher Activision. This new one features various team members from developer Radical Entertainment talking about the big conflict between the original game's hero Alex Mercer and the sequel's new hero James Heller.

The video also has some brief but pretty spectacular gameplay footage from a pre-alpha build of the game as you see the shape-shifting hero make some kills in some unique and devastating ways on the streets of New York City.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Escalation DLC gets a preview trailer

The second and most likely final map pack for Call of Duty Black Ops, titled Escalation, will be released for the PC in the next few months and today we got the first gameplay trailer showing off the five new levels for developer Treyarch's hit first person shooter.

The trailer goes into detail on the four new multiplayer maps in the pack; Zoo (complete with monorail) Hotel, Convey and Stockpile. It also mentions the new zombie themed map, Call of the Dead, but aside from a very brief glimpse of a rather foreboding location (including a spooky lighthouse) details of that map are being kept close to the vest for now.

Call of Duty Black Ops mod tools coming in May

PC players of Call of Duty Black Ops have been waiting patiently for developer Treyarch to deliver on the team's earlier promise of providing mod tools to make new levels and other mods for the hit first person shooter. Now it looks like the wait will soon be over.

Treyarch's community manager Josh Olin retweeted a note from an unnamed Treyarch developer stating that the PC mod tools for the game will be released sometime in May. No other details were announced. Some fans were upset that developer Infinity Ward decided not to release mod tools for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 in 2009.

Infinity Ward's former co-founders level new charges against Activision

In their continuing legal fight against publisher Activision, former Infinity Ward co-founders Vince Zampella and Jason West have now added two more charges of alleged fraud against the publisher of the Call of Duty first person shooter game franchise. Gamespot reports that according to revised court documents, West and Zampella claimed they signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Activision in 2008.

The court documents claimed that the two signed the document to secure more creative control and a bonus plan for sales of future games in the Call of Duty series. However they also claimed they were skeptical over Activision's motives. West and Zampella now claim that Activision had no plans to honor the MOU. Activision has yet to respond to these new charges.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time announced

The latest Spider-Man game from publisher Activision has been officially revealed. It's titled Spider-Man Edge of Time and it comes from developer Bennox who brought us last year's game Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions. The new game features both the normal Peter Parker web slinger and the future version, Spider-Man 2099 (pictured above as he was seen in Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions).

The storyline comes from Peter David, who created Spider-Man 2099 in the now canceled comic book series of the same name. The story involves time travel and "the early and untimely death of Peter Parker" with players dealing with "cause and effect" gameplay as actions in one timeline changing events in the other. The game is due out this fall but so far no platforms have been announced.
