MONKEYS! MONKEYS! MONKEYS! (Sorry, had to be done). Yes, the LucasArts adventure game factory was in full swing in 1990 when it released this beloved game. Developed by Ron Gilbert, the game had a lead character with one of the best names ever: Guybrush Threepwood. You can't go wrong with that kind of name.
With lots of humor, pirates and terrifically fun gameplay, The Secret of Monkey Island was a big success for LucasArts and spawned three sequels. However, the lack of interest in adventure games in the new millennium caused the series to end with its fourth installment in 2000. 20/04/09
