The 7th Guest
Even though Myst was the game that really helped to get CD-Roms to be used for future PC games, it wasn't the first to use the format. One of the first games that was released on CD-Rom exclusively was the Virgin Games-published title The 7th Guest.
Using live action scenes and a horror themed storyline, The 7th Guest was more mature in terms of content than Myst. However, it helped solidify the popularity of CD-ROM technology, full motion video, and logic puzzle gameplay, which would be copied by a flood of adventure games later on.
Developer Trilobyte created a sequel, the 11th Hour, but it was not as well received as the original. A planned third game in the series never happened due to the shutdown of Trilobyte in 1998.
