This is a slightly unusual pick since this Rockstar game was first released on the PS2 in 2001 (it came out for the PC about six months later). However there is no doubt that Rockstar's design for the game made other designers sit up and take notice.
The open world gameplay and the freedom to do almost anything you wanted made a huge impact, and PC gamers soon had a number of similar titles released that tried to copy its formula. 05/02/09
