When you hear about a major publisher disappearing it's usually as a result of a merger. Not so for Midway Games. The Chicago-based publisher, after several years of non-profitable business operations, finally shut down for good in mid-2009.
In the last years of its life Midway published a number of major PC games including Unreal Tournament 3, Stranglehold and others. However poor sales on most of their titles spelled doom for the company. Most of its assets were sold off to Warner Bros. Interactive along with two of their development studios. While we may see more Midway game franchises in the future the Midway name is done for. 17/12/09
