Halo (Marvel Comics)

Halo (Marvel Comics) (1 of 10)

Bungie wanted to do a Halo comic book series but instead of just giving the license to a publisher the developer of the first person shooter games decided to do the job themselves. They got an anthology of short stories set in the Halo universe with talents like acclaimed French artist Jean "Moebius" Giraud contributing to the book.

Bungie got Marvel Comics to publish a hardcover version of their Halo comic book anthology in 2006. The sales success was enough for Marvel to get the rights to do more Halo comics. Unfortunately the first four issue mini-series, Halo Uprising, suffered through massive delays due in part to changes in the storyline dictated by Bungie. Designed to be a story that would take place between the games Halo 2 and Halo 3, the four issue mini series still hasn't completely shipped (the final issue is finally due out this March).

However Marvel is still planning to release two more Halo based mini-series in 2008. At least one of them will tie into the events of the upcoming game Halo 3: ODST. 09/02/09
