While there were E3s before 1997 they were also held before the Internet and the World Wide Web became a major news and media source. As a result, the earliest E3 booth babe pictures come from 1997, when E3 was held in Atlanta for the first of two short lived years.

By far the most memorable E3 booth model was Eidos's first Lara Croft model Rhona Mitra. The British born model was Eidos's first live incarnation of its (back then) massively popular lead character in the Tomb Raider game series. Mitra looked and acted like Croft on Eidos's E3 stage in 1997. Mitra would go on to a very successful acting career in TV and films. She was, in a very real sense, the definition of what an E3 booth model should be like; a woman who stays in character and looks the part.
