Team Fortress Classic was surprising when it was first released, as it was one of the first mods to be transformed into a full game at the behest of the original game's developers. It was also quite difficult, since it involved understanding the intricacies of the different classes and how they interacted. Counter-Strike didn't even come close! It was this difficulty that made it enduringly popular. 07/07/10
