Return to Castle Wolfenstein is interesting, as it is id property not developed by id. Much like Quake 4 and Wolfenstein later, Return to Castle Wolfenstein was entirely developed by third-party studios handling the work. Grey Matter, which went on to disband and help form Treyarch, did the single-player component, while Nerve did the multiplayer. This division of developers between single-player and multiplayer can potentially screw up a game, but Return to Castle Wolfenstein certainly didn't suffer. 02/02/10
