Red Faction came out in a time where environment destruction was virtually unheard of. Sure, you could perform the occasional scripted sequence to blow something up and continue (which Half-Life took full advantage of) but there was no real non-scripted destruction. Red Faction changed this, although its effects were restricted enough in single-player that many players never got to experience the joy of destruction. It has an often overlooked multiplayer, though. 22/09/09
