Panzer General is interesting in that only a few games came out before it that had similar gameplay. Of note was the Nectaris series on the TurboGrafx and the Battle Isle series, both of which had the same hexagonal strategic style of Panzer General. However, Panzer General broke things up by taking place in a World War 2 setting and having a semi-dynamic campaign. While Nectaris and Battle Isle are both good games, Panzer General blows them out of the water in terms of features, and it's for this reason that it launched the SSI Generals series. 12/01/10
