Homeworld was a revelation when it came onto the scene in 1999. Featuring stunning 3D graphics and, most surprisingly, 3D gameplay to boot, it received wide critical acclaim and commercial success. As the first game from newbie developer Relic, it immediately put them on the map as contenders with the big boys at Westwood and Blizzard. After all, if a brand new development studio could create this kind of game, how could the established studios keep up?
