Conquest of the New World is different from most 4X games, especially those of the time. While this could have made it incredibly successful, it performed only average in the commercial realm, although critical reviews were mostly positive. After receiving a deluxe edition, it languished in the dustbin until Interplay dug through its old titles and decided to put it up for sale. Now anyone can enjoy the uniqueness of Conquest of the New World, and they should. 08/09/09
