Age of Empires 2 came out two years after the original, and in that time Ensemble had built up a rabid fanbase thanks to the success of Age of Empires and its expansion pack. Age of Empires 2 was a reasonably high-profile game, and when it was released, we certianly were not disappointed. With tons of new units and civilizations, on top of a much better series of campaigns, it was vastly better than the original game, and it showed in both sales and critical reception. 18/05/10
