The game industry's single biggest critic has not had the best 2008. Florida attorney Jack Thompson's claims that game cause people to do horrible things have been a staple of the Internet for several years. Never mind that most of his claims were exaggerated at best.

However this fall Thompson lost a big weapon in his fight as the Florida Bar Association disbarred Thompson. Since then Thompson hasn't been silent but his attacks haven't been as extensive in the past.

We are giving a rose to him because, frankly, we miss having someone that was so easy to dismiss. Other critics have more thought to their attacks but Thompson's grandstanding was fodder for our egos. It's going to be much harder to deal with those folks than our now law license-less Thompson. 16/12/08
