While not the first great adventure game from LucasArts, this first title in the Monkey Island series really got the ball rolling on the company's adventure game genre with its mix of great gameplay, graphics and humor.

After a couple of sequels, this week marks a new beginning for the Monkey Island saga with the release of the first of five chapters in the episodic Tales of Monkey Island, developed by Telltale Games (and with input from one of the game's original creators Dave Grossman). Next week a special edition of The Secret of Monkey Island will be released with updated graphics, sound, music and voice acting 07/07/09
