Joystiq goes hands-on with StarCraft II multiplayer; new video released

Blizzard is getting ready (we hope anyway) to unleash the StarCraft II multiplayer beta test "soon" but in the meantime they recently invited a number of media folks to check out a new build of the long awaited sci-fi RTS sequel at their offices in Irvine, CA. Our sister site Joystiq made the trek and brought back some hands-on impressions.

They also got a tour of Blizzard's campus and received a new seven minute multiplayer vdeo showing off more StarCraft II gameplay. You can download the HD version of the video right here at Big Download. Newly released screenshots from the game have also been added to our gallery. Finally Joystiq has a extensive chat with StarCraft II producer Chris Sigaty.

Alas, it seems that plans to check out the game's single player campaign were cut at the last minute but there will likely be more press events to show off StarCraft II before it's planned released before the end of the year (fingers crossed).

Age of Conan video goes to Tarantia Commons to start a riot

This week, Age of Conan players got to see the release of update 5, which adds all new content to the game. Game director and producer Craig Morrison takes viewers through a region a tour of Tarantia Commons, an area described as the underbelly of the kingdom. In it, players can choose sides in a riot and move outwards into the land, where plague threatens to infect them. This video provides a brief look at what players will be able to experience.

Dawn of War 2 Battle report pits Space Marines against Orks

This second Dawn of War 2 Battle Report covers the multiplayer balance changes and new units that will be included in the upcoming update. This match demonstrates a battle between the Space Marine and Ork factions, both of which will be seeing some significant changes. Changes to the Eldar and Tyranids were covered in the first Battle Report. The Dawn of War 2 single player demo can be downloaded here.

City of Heroes videos teach DIY mission construction

Those who are still a little confused or intimidated by the City of Heroes Mission Architect system, which allows users to create customized content for the game, need not worry anymore. Latest Aion tour takes us to Belusian

This Aion zone tour video takes viewers to an area called Belusian. The upcoming MMO where player characters can sprout wings and fly into a celestial war is expected to release in North America on September 22nd.

"Even by the standards of Asmodae, already a harsh and inhospitable land, Beluslan is particularly icy and forbidding. What life there is clings to existence on the rocky slopes and foothills of Chaos Pass, or is twisted into strange and disturbing forms on the Black Plains and in Giant's Valley."

Dawn of War 2 developers run down upcoming update in Battle Report video

In this Battle Report video, demonstrating a battle between the Tyranids and Eldar, the developers at Relic Entertainment list some of the major changes that will be coming to Dawn of War 2 in the upcoming update. As shown in the video, the update will feature some major multiplayer rebalancing that will significantly change up how the factions are played. The single player Dawn of War 2 demo can be downloaded here.

Aion video podcast takes you to a broken world

Members of the Aion development team provide a great deal of detail on the background on Aion, an upcoming MMO game from NCsoft. A number of topics are covered, from the world's history to its rich mythology. The world of Aion is broken into two parts, with opposing factions found on either half. To top it all off, players will have the opportunity to sprout wings and fly. Aion is expected to release in the fall.

Dark Void developer diary teaches the basics of flight

This developer diary for Dark Void gives viewers a behind the scenes look at the team's early approach toward making the game and how they eventually came to use rocket pack flight and vertical combat.

"Dark Void is a sci-fi action-adventure game that combines an adrenaline-fuelled blend of aerial and ground-pounding combat. Set in a parallel universe called "The Void," players take on the role of Will, a pilot dropped into incredible circumstances within the mysterious Void. This unlikely hero soon finds himself swept into a desperate struggle for survival, joining forces with a rebel human group called The Survivors. Trapped in the Void, these resistance fighters are battling to hold off a mysterious alien race that plans to threaten Earth."

Pixe Lott sings 'Mama Do' in Simlish

A long while back, we were treated to Katy Perry singing one of her hit songs in Simlish. Now it's pop singer Pixie Lott's turn to give one of her hits the Simlish treatment. This video takes a behind-the-scenes look at the recording of 'Mama Do' in Simlish for an upcoming Sims 3 music video, and she gets a crash course in learning a virtual foreign language. She should have tried Rosetta Stone.

New StarCraft II Battle Report video leaked online

People waiting to see if they have been picked for the StarCraft II multiplayer beta test can get a taste of the action via the new Battle Report video that was just released . . . by someone. Apparently, either deliberately or through an actual leak, the new Battle Report (the third in the series) got leaked onto the Internet before its release by Blizzard on the game's official web site

The Battlle Report has two pro StarCraft players on an unusual map as the Zerg and Protoss try to take each other out. You can see the second part of the two part video after the jump. Of course we will have the HD download of the third StarCraft II Battle Report available here at Big Download whenever Blizzard decides to release it.

Some freaking incredible ArmA II gameplay movies are, well, incredible

We've been a little busy with our E3 coverage for the past two weeks that we haven't had a chance to check out our beta copy of ArmA II, the upcoming military shooter from Bohemia Interactive. But other people have had a little time on their hands and have taken some gameplay movies from the beta and posted them on YouTube.

One of the movies (shown above) shows a massive air battle between AI units in the game. Another movie, which can be seen after the break, shows an over 5 minute ground battle between what the author says are 1,500 AI units. Both are pretty spectacular and are pumping us up for for the final version that's due out later in June.

Just Cause 2 video dives into a corrupt island paradise

This gameplay walkthrough video for Just Cause 2 covers much of what was presented at E3 2009. Just Cause 2 will offer plenty of open-world action set on an island paradise, and the gameplay presentation is about 10 minutes long. Those looking for something a little shorter can view the game trailer after the jump. The game is expected to come out in 2010.
