Avatar developer diary chooses sides

The newest developer diary for James Cameron's Avatar presents players with the choices they have to make in the course of playing the game, which is mainly comes down to what faction suits the player best. Since there's no "good" or "evil" faction, just humans representing Earth's interest and the Na'vi looking to defend their native world, any sense or morality associated with choosing sides will probably be indirect. However, the play style will be considerably different, since humans will stick using high technology and heavy firepower to get what they want, while the Na'vi rely more on speed and melee.

The Avatar: The Game is scheduled to release on December 1st and the movie hits theaters on December 18th. A playable demo can be downloaded here.

Just Cause 2 dev video discovers dozens of uses for a grappling hook

At first glance, the grappling hook feature in Just Cause 2 looks suspiciously similar to the one in Bionic Commando. It can be used as a kind of offensive weapon, a means of transportation by swinging from place to place, or a means of making a quick escape by grappling onto a wall and zipping away. However, what makes it unique in this game is that players have the option of using the line to tether things, such as people, onto other objects like lamp posts, cars or aircraft. It may sound like a small enhancement at first, but as you can see, it opens a world of possibilities. Just Cause 2 is expected to release in the spring of 2010.
