Star Wars: The Old Republic trailer discovers the fate of Darth Revan

Darth Revan's plot thread at the end of Knights of the Old Republic was left hanging. In short, he left to fight the Sith in the unknown and undiscovered parts of the universe. While it was briefly mentioned in the second game, it was never really brought up until now. BioWare is bringing backtheir favorite combination Sith/Jedi and putting him in their new MMO. This trailer doesn't show off a whole lot of specifics, but for most Star Wars and BioWare fans, the mere mention of Darth Revan is enough. Then combine it with a mention of him being reborn. Darth Revan in The Old Republic? We sure hope so.

DeathSpank trailer unveils the thongs of virtue

DeathSpank is the baby of Ron Gilbert, and while the first game in the episodic hack-and-slash adventure series is still awaiting release on PC, the developers are hard at work on the second episode. Entitled thongs of virtue, it entitles rescuing the thongs from their corrupted owners, such as... Santa? The game certainly looks odd, but what can one expect from DeathSpank? Some of the new features shown in this trailer include futuristic weapons and alien enemies, alongside an improved presentation. We will be more interested once the first game finally makes it to PC, though.

Swarm trailer sacrifices for the good of the flock

Flocking behavior is becoming more and more common in games. From interesting browser games to Left 4 Dead, flocking AI behavior is being explored in new and interesting ways all the time. This trailer for Hothead's Swarm looks just like the kind of game we could love, and it includes that delightful little AI routine! In this case, the implementation leads to lots of slice, dicing, explosions, horrific burns, and comedic violence. At least if the gameplay shown is any indication. There's nothing like slapstick to liven up your gaming experience.

FireFall trailers show lush, but dangerous, visions of future Earth

Firefall is one of those games that came out of nowhere to blindside us with just how cool it looks. Debuting at PAX 2010, the free-to-play shooter already looks like it will be a fantastic title, and these trailers are the proof. Above is the cinematic trailer, and shows off some of the CGI talent that Red 5 Studios grabbed from Blizzard Entertainment. It's a rather stunning demonstration of the cinematics, and offers a good insight into the world of FIrefall and an introduction to both the humans and the bugs.

The other trailer, after the jump, is a whopping 10+ minute video that shows a player as he goes through his routine. The player mines some minerals with a friend (which triggers a co-op defense mission), flies back to base, gears back up, and fights off an alien assault. We wish all gameplay trailers were as in-depth as this one, as the trailer shows off a lot of what seems to make Firefall unique. Both trailers are definitely worth watching. Go ahead, take 15 minutes out of your day. You won't regret it.

Dungeon Siege III trailer hacks and slashes its way to glory

This Dungeon Siege III trailer is interesting. On one hand, it's delightfully minimalistic, showing off only gameplay and keeping all potential chatter to a minimum. On the other hand, the slow-down bits are extremely choppy and concerning, only two classes are shown, and the art design is rather generic. Despite this, it looks like loads of fun and full of that good ol' monster hacking we know and love. It's just a shame that the original developer, Gas Powered Games, couldn't return for the third game in this beloved franchise.

Red Orchestra 2 trailer blows people to pieces

Those looking forward to Tripwire's Red Orchestra sequel have a lot to be excited about. Shown off at PAX, this solitary trailer shows off several of the new systems Tripwire has promised in the Soviet-focused World War 2 shooter. Some of the coolest include body dismemberment and usage of cover. Vehicles are also making a return, and if this trailer is made using in-game assets (which it appears to be), it's also a significantly more visually stunning game than its predecessor. If you're in need of a World War 2 fix, it looks like Tripwire has you covered for 2011.

Lord of the Rings Online trailer forges legendary heroes

Lord of the Rings Online has been chugging along quietly for years now, and its free-to-play update is finally upon us. At PAX, the developers gave con-goers a sample of the game as well as a fancy new trailer. While the trailer itself is fairly standard for MMOs (mixture of CGI and gameplay, typical sweeping statement), there's one major issue with it: the audio is mastered really poorly. Not a trailer to watch if you are sensitive to that kind of thing. Regardless, it's the same Lord of the Rings spiel, so you know what to expect.

Hot Pursuit trailer gets competitive once again

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit has been pushing the concept of Autolog heavily, and this newest trailer is no exception. Featuring yet more gameplay footage taken within the context of someone beating an autolog score, it appears to show off more elements of the system, the most notable being the ability to view multiple autologs at the same time. It also shows off a new track that takes place in what appears to be a prairie or desert environment. More of the same, but when your game is all about speed and crashes, you don't need to show much in the way of new concepts!

Bloody Good Time trailer kills for an acting gig

The folks behind The Ship have been hard at work on their spiritual sequel, and the result is Bloody Good Time. While there's not been a whole lot in regards to information on the game, this trailer shows off two nice things about the upcoming title: its excellent art style and the casual humor behind the violence. We'll hold off judgement on the mechanics proper until we see some gameplay trailers, but it's good to see that the developers want to retain the excellent presentation of their previous game.

Dragon Age DLC trailer reveals the fate of Morrigan

Morrigan, one of the main characters in last year's Dragon Age Origins, had a rather ignominious fate at the end of BioWare's dark fantasy epic. Specifically, her plot thread was left dangling! Now comes the last DLC for Origins, and with it follows the conclusion to Morrigan's story. While not a lot is revealed, it does show game shots regarding the activation (and destruction) of a magical mirror. It also shows more of Morrigan and promises to resolve her plot line, which is more than enough incentive for most Dragon Age players.

Kane and Lynch 2 trailer shows off new DLC maps

Kane and Lynch 2 is pulling in a modest amount of cash, so the developers are hard at work pumping out everyone's favorite miniature additions. In this case, it's a 3-map, 5-weapon pack for $6, and this trailer gives a low-down of the goodies you get for the $6. Kane and Lynch has fairly decent multiplayer, so this trailer should be fairly interesting to anybody who already has the game. We love the look of the new maps, but the guns are nothing particularly special. Just another day in the life of Kane and Lynch!

FEAR 3 trailer passes the torch between developers

FEAR 3 is coming, and all the trailers up until now have shown off just what Day 1 is doing with Monolith's most recent franchise. But where does that leave Monolith? This trailer talks about the history and connection between the two companies, from Day 1's involvement in porting the original FEAR to Monolith's involvement in the newest game. It's intriguing, mostly because this is the first canon FEAR game to be developed by a company other than Monolith. There's also some cool gameplay footage, so if you aren't that interested in the talking heads, you can still get your fill of supernatural gunplay.

Shogun 2 battle report details tactical combat and AI

The Total War series started in Japan, and it returns to the Land of the Rising Sun with Shogun 2. While the series has undergone some major innovations in the many years since, the developers definitely seem to be giving the original game justice. This massive battle report, clocking in at over 6 minutes, details the minutiae of handling a tactical battle. Topics covered include new AI tactics, flanking, and morale. There's also mentions of the new models and a new speech algorithm for the pre-battle general speeches. Frankly, we're incredibly excited to get our hands on Shogun 2, and with this battle report, most people should join us in our glee.

Medal of Honor trailer blows apart villages with helicopters

For those that really wondered what the difference between Medal of Honor and Modern Warfare was, here's your answer: vehicles! Joking aside, this trailer for the upcoming shooter shows off the wrecking of an Afghan village by missiles and cannon fire. That's about all it does, although some of the more interesting elements include the crumbling of buildings and the ammo dump explosion at the end. Still, the explosions are pretty impressive, and the trailer definitely showcases a feeling of power.
