F.E.A.R. 2 Armored Front video the EPA song

The F.E.A.R. 2 Armored Front downloadable map pack expansion became available today for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 owners, and there's no better way to celebrate than to sing a song about it like with Monolith did previously with the Toy Soldiers map pack. This one celebrates the toughest machine in the game, the EPA (Elite Powered Armor), and its ability to mow down enemies with an unlimited supply of ammo. Armored Front includes two new maps (Conductor and Decoy) and four new character heads for players to customize their characters. No release date for the PC release of the expansion has been announced yet.

New F.E.A.R 2 DLC coming to the PC after console release

Warner Bros Interactive just announced plans to release a second downloadable map pack for F.E.A.R. 2. However the announcement didn't mention a PC release for the download. We checked with the game's PR rep who told us that the second DLC map pack will indeed be released for the PC but we will have to wait until sometime after the console version's release.

The map pack, titled "Armored Front" will contain two new maps (Conductor and Decoy) both of which will feature the one-man drivable mech armor that was available in the single player version of F.E.A.R. 2. The map pack will also have four new character heads for your multiplayer character model.

This music video, written and produced by the F.E.A.R. 2 development team at Monolith, celebrates the release of the Toy Soldiers multiplayer map pack. It showcases the unique levels that can be found in the map pack, which shrinks players down to miniature sizes, and gives a nice tune to sing along to.

F.E.A.R. 2 patch for Steam owners released

PC owners of F.E.A.R. 2 who use Steam got a treat this weekend as they managed to get an automatic update to their copy of Monolith's recent first person shooter. So far there's no word on when a stand alone patch for the PC game will be released.

The Steam update for F.E.A.R. 2 has some new features such as begin able to switch between full screen and widecreen display options, adding film grain and head bobs for your video options and making the Hard play mode even harder. There's also a few more bug fixes and improvements. As usual you can see the full list at the Steam web site.

F.E.A.R. 2 Toy Soldiers map screenshots are cute

Earlier today we reported on plans to release some new multiplayer maps for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin sometime in April. Now developer Monolith and publisher Warner Bros. Interactive has released the first screenshots from the "Toy Soldiers" map pack which either turns the player into a few inches tall or turns the levels into massive versions of themselves (take your pick).

We've put the three new shots in our F.E.A.R. 2 gallery where you can check out the very cute visuals of tiny soldiers running and shooting in a blood soaked hospital, among other settings. They definitely remind us of a similar level in the 1998 FPS SiN from the now defunct Ritual. Ah, good memories.

F.E.A.R. 2 extra content coming in April

F.E.A.R. 2 didn't get as good of a critical reception as the original but the horror FPS sequel from Monolith seems to be doing decently on the sales front on the PC side, showing up in the top 10 best selling PC game in its first two weeks of release. Now the game's publisher Warner Bros. Interactive has revealed plans for a new multiplayer map pack for the game with a unique twist

The map pack was actually leaked via a listing on the Major Nelson web site that was quickly crossed out. It will include three maps where players are only inches tall in levels depicting a pinball machine, a hospital room and a playground sandbox. While the map pack will be released sometime in April there's no word on when the map pack will be released for PC owners.

Review: F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin starts shortly before the first F.E.A.R.'s explosive ending. This time you play as Becket, a Delta Force team member who is sent to a different part of the city, but gets caught up in the aftermath of the first game. Also, events in the game put you onto Alma's radar, who uses her considerable psychic might to mess with your mind and wreak havoc. Then there's the army of supersoldier clones and Armacham's own cleanup crew sent in to wipe out all evidence of what went on, including you. Altogether, it's everything we expect from a F.E.A.R. game ramped up a few extra notches. However, even with the improved graphics, new creatures and extra bloodshed, the game doesn't deliver the same chilling mood the first game did.
