East India Company contest could let you be a in-game character

Have you ever wonder what it might be like to be a captain of a massive sailing ship 300 years ago? Well Paradox Interactive is giving you a chance to at least put a virtual version of yourself in that role in a new contest to promote their upcoming historical strategy game East India Company.

Simplle send a picture of yourself and why you would make the "perfect commander" for the Nitro Games-developed title and send that info into the address that's given in the official rules by July 16. Three people will be picked and have their likenesses put into the game as in-game characters in a patch after East India Company is released on July 28.

Star Wars: The Old Republic wins Best PC Game for Game Critics E3 2009 awards

Star Wars: The Old Republic just got a ton of pressure put on it. The upcoming MMO from BioWare, EA and LucasArts was just named as the Best PC Game by the Game Critics Awards as they announced the winners of their annual E3 awards.

The awards, as we have mentioned before, are not a fullproof way of predicting a game's final form. Witness the fact that Spore won the same award three times and ended up as something of a dissapointment when it was finally released. We hope that BioWare's title is an exception.

In other catagories, Modern Warfare 2 won for Best Action Game, Mass Effect 2 (another BioWare title) won for Best Role Playing Game, Split/Second won for Best Racing Game, Supreme Commander 2 won for Best Strategy Game and Left 4 Dead 2 won for Best Online Multiplayer.

Germans love cowgirls for Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood contest [Update]

Oh, why can't Ubisoft get on the ball and create something like this for the US market? Apparently the publisher has finished running a "Cowgirl" model content in Germany to promote the upcoming Western shooter Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood.

The online voting for the contest has apparently been completed and "Lisa" is the winner among the group of five finalists. As you can see from the above picture she knows how to use her six-shooters. Let's hope the Techland developed game will be as good looking as the models when it is released in the US in late June. You can check out more pictures and videos of "Lisa" and the other four finalists at the contest's official web site.

Oh, and US cowgirls would have been a natural promotion, don't you think?

: Oh and the game itself has gone gold
