Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3

This patch updates Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 to v1.11 and includes a long list of balance changes and bug fixes. Most notably, it installs two multiplayer maps taken from from the stand-alone expansion, Red Alert 3: Uprising. The patch also includes all changes in previous updates. This hot-fix patch for Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 fixes a network online issue preventing users with no internet connection from accessing the game. This issue was previously introduced in Patch 1.09 and is now fixed in 1.10.

This tool scans your computer for EA games released after May 2008 that use the SecuROM limited installation DRM system. After scanning, the tool will list the games so that the user can download the corresponding game-specific de-authorization tool. Or you can continue reading after the jump for direct links to a full list of de-authorization tools. Instructions for the the de-authorization manager are also shown after the jump.

We're not here to judge, but if we were, we'd thank EA for making game un/installation a pain in the butt. We'd also point out that The Sims 2 IKEA Home Stuff and Littlest Pet Shop are on the list and shake our heads in utter disbelief.

Actor Malcolm McDowell is no stranger to being in live-action video game movie sequences. Fans of the Wing Commander series may remember him playing the role of Admiral Tolwyn. A lot has changed since the 90's, the least of which being the huge leap to HD video technology, which is clearly demonstrated in this video. Now McDowell returns to video games in Red Alert 3 - Uprising as Rupert Thornley, president of the European Union. Uprising is a available now exclusively through digital retail. Tensions between Ric Flair, the Nature Boy, and the Soviet War Bear have been building up for a long while now. On Monday, the two finally face-off against each other in the ring in a Red Alert 3 Uprising wrestling match. The scene starts to lose a little something when the bear costume comes apart a little in setting up the leg lock, but it's still fun to watch if you enjoy watching costumed mascots get the stuffing beat out of them - so to speak. Players can take on Ric Flair's character, Commander Hill, in Uprising's Commander's Challenge mode. Check out the promo video leading up to this event shown after the jump.

Uprising, Red Alert 3's first stand alone expansion, continues the struggle between the Allies, Soviets and the Empire of the Rising Sun. The Allied faction turned out to be the global victor of the previous war. Now the Soviets are organizing an underground rebellion while the Empire undermines the new regime in its own way. With four mini campaigns, one dedicated to the story of Yuriko (the Empire's special psychic unit), new units and a Commander's Challenge mode topped off with some brand-new HD video sequences, this expansion packs in a good deal of gameplay for a low price.

Few things get commanders ready for action than actress/model Gemma Atkinson saying, "Gentlemen, mount up!" Allied, Soviet and Japanese forces clash again in the Red Alert 3 - Uprising expansion that released yesterday. This trailer gives a quick rundown of the noteworthy actors that appear along with all-new content that include a mini-campaign and a mode called the Commander's Challenge. The expansion is available now exclusively as a digital download through outlets such as the EA Store, Direct2Drive, and Gamersgate. Whooo!

A little earlier than expected, Electronic Arts has now released Command and Conquer Red Alert 3 Uprising via its EA Store for download and purchase. The $19.95 title is only available (for now anyway) as a downloadable stand alone expansion pack to the 2008 alternate history RTS game. You can also download the game via Direct2Drive and on Gamestop's download site.

Just a reminder: The game features four small single player campaigns. Three of them have normal RTS missions (one for each of the game's factions) while the fourth is a unique mix of RTS and action-RPG featuring you playing the super-powered Yuriko Omega character. The game also features 50 Commander's Challenge missions, each with different objectives. Of course a C&C game wouldn't be complete without goofy live action cut-scenes and Uprising has them as well with "actors" like Ric Flair to entertain you.

This developer narrated video for Red Alert 3 - Uprising focuses on the Empire of the Rising Sun, its new story (continued from the aftermath of the main game) and some of the new units. The video also gives viewers a more in-depth preview of the mini campaign centered on the character Yuriko. The stand alone expansion is scheduled to release exclusively through digital download on March 12.

When we first launched Big Download about 10 months or so ago, we knew we could be covering all sorts of titles, from large publishers and developers to small one man indie games. However we also knew there would be games that we, and we hope our readers, would spend more time in covering and playing over the next several months. These games came to be known to us as the BigAss 25.

This list has remained something that's only been known to the Big Download team . . . until now. Today in a special two part article we reveal what games are included in our BigAss 25 list is for the current time period. Our aim is to revise this list every few months, taking some out and putting new ones back in, so that it remains a fresh and relevant look at where the PC game industry is headed.

While we will still cover the entire PC game industry, this list of games represents what we think will be of special interest to us and our readers. You may notice that this list contains games that have already been released. Why? Because those titles continue to generate interest, especially if they have had or will have new downloadable content and expansions that will keep their games fresh in our heads.

Today we are revealing the first 13 games on the BigAss 25 list in alphabetical order. Stay tuned tomorrow as we reveal the other 12 games on our current list.

We've seen former pro-wrestler Ric Flair get hit by the Soviet War Bear during a Red Alert 3 - Uprising interview, and the bear blocked him from getting with a pretty girl. In the Command & Conquer tradition, the battle rages on as the bear parachutes in for yet another surprise attack. Ric Flair plays Command Hill in the upcoming expansion and will put players through rigorous missions in the Commander's Challenge game mode.
