Although there have been a number of attempts to simplify the controls for PC games (some more successful than others), there are still a number that have a complicated series of commands and menus to memorize and flip through. Role-playing, strategy, and a handful of action shooters can usually fall into this category, but players with control difficulty now have an alternative. Dragon NaturallySpeaking, the well-known and very accurate voice dictation software, now offers an add-on called Dragon Gaming Pack. Using it, players can use their voices to control actions in some of their favorite games. Unfortunately, ease of use is a relative term in this case, not to mention the low practicality of using this kind of software in fast paced shooter games.

Few games resonate with players as much as the original Portal, released in 2007. The sequel takes what started as a short and relatively experimental concept and kicks it up several notches to a fully fleshed out game that tops its predecessor. Portal 2 expands the gameplay in just about every respect with more characters, a longer storyline, and additional new experimental technologies added to the large scale portal themed puzzles. The puzzles are much bigger and have more moving parts, but they're generally as easy to figure out as those from the first game, although one or two have some pretty tricky solutions.

It involves tracking down a spy captured in Batarian space who has information on a massive Reaper invasion coming to wipe out all life in the galaxy. The evidence not only proves definitively that the Reapers are coming, but details the launching point from where all life in the galaxy will be exterminated.

The time has come to take up your weapon, dust off the spellbook, and look destiny in the eye before kicking it where it hurts, because this is Dragon Age II. Players take the role of an all-new hero named Hawke, who fled with his family from the town of Lothering as the darkspawn destroyed it, and ends up in the city of Kirkwall. From there, the hero goes from being a impoverished refugee to one of the most important figures in the series. Since the Blight is happening in your old homeland, there isn't much emphasis on fighting darkspawn, but there's still great controversy to uncover and overcome. Fans of the previous game may need to get used to how much has changed, but the game features a lot of fast action, an excellent story, and some great characters.

When it comes to fighting an eternal intergalactic war, few games compare to the Dawn of War series. Dawn of War II - Retribution ups the stakes by including a number of gameplay changes and improvements compared to the previous games, with the most prominent feature being the inclusion of six playable races for the campaign mode. Although the events from Chaos Rising shape what's happening in the sector, the Space Marine campaign isn't a direct sequel and the amount of corruption or purity players chose to stick with have no bearing on Retribution. All the campaigns use the same series of maps with special events and dialogue changed to suit the player's faction. They also pretty much follow the plot of defeating a Chaos plot to gain power while trying to stop the Imperium from purging all life from the sector, but are enough differences in characters and motivation to make each story feel unique. Especially when playing a faction like Chaos and battling the Space Marine heroes featured in previous games.

This patch for Dragon Age 2 will add the option to enable higher detail replacements for most textures in game. A big difference will be noticed on level art especially.

Requirements:
Using high-resolution textures requires a graphics card with at least 1024MB video memory.
Most of the benefits from the Hi-resolution textures will only be seen if you are able to run the game in DirectX 11.

To manually download your new content on the PC:

1. Download the installer and run it.
2. Run Dragon Age II.
3. Open the Options menu.
4. Select Video options.
5. Check the "Hi-resolution textures" checkbox.

Note: In order to enable the "Very High" setting you will need a video card that supports DirectX 11 and the latest drivers.

If you're a little down because there's not enough Magicka in your life, then this should help lift your spirits. The official soundtrack to the humor infused four-player action role-playing game is available to download for free. Now you can bring the spellcasting feeling with you no matter where you go.

"Magicka is a satirical action-adventure game set in a rich fantasy world based on Norse mythology. The player assumes the role of a wizard from a sacred order tasked with stopping an evil sorcerer who has thrown the world into turmoil, his foul creations besieging the forces of good."

Big Download will be working alongside EA and Maxis all month long to giveaway beta access to Darkspore, the unique sci-fi action role-playing game where players players can completely customize their heroes with creature parts and powers.

We're giving away 250 keys for this weekend's beta, which starts on Friday February 18th 6pm PST and ends on the following Saturday February 19th at 11:59pm PST. Continue after the jump for system requirements and to watch a beta gameplay trailer.

More keys will be given away each week until the beta period ends on March 13. Additional features will be added as the beta period progresses. Darkspore is currently scheduled to release on March 29, 2011 (April 1 in Europe).

Want to get in the beta? Getting a key is easy!

1. Send us an email at contests@bigdownload.com with the subject line "Darkspore Beta Key Request."
2. We will reply with your own personal beta key (supplies limited).
3. Visit beta.darkspore.com and click "Join Beta" to register your key. You will need to create an EA account if you don't already have one.
4. Download and install the game client.

The game will automatically update itself with the latest patches and registered players will be eligible to participate in all upcoming Darkspore beta sessions. System requirements and game description are shown after the jump. A special thanks to EA and Maxis for providing the beta keys.
