Star Wars The Old Republic let players sign up to be considered for the beta test of the upcoming MMO game and so far close to 1.5 million players have done just that, according to what an Electronic Arts executive said in a recent meeting.

EA CFO Eric Brown told the audience this week at the Lazard Capital Markets Technology and Media Day that the high beta sign up numbers for the game are, " ... a great indicator in the interest level in the franchise." Gamasutra reports that Brown would not say when the open beta for the game would launch but did say that the game is not expected to be released before the end of June.
