The game was called Command and Conquer Arena and based on the trailer (first seen on the web site of the CGI film company Richard Taylor Design) it seems to take some inspiration from the Battlefield series game than an RTS title. You can check out the trailer after the jump:

It doesn't surprise me, EALA for years just cranked out clone after clone of the same game, and now people have just lost interest. It's a shame, they made Command and Conquer Generals, which was a brilliant game. The Zero hour expansion featured 3 factions with 3 subfactions for each that all could be played equally. Has that been done before or since?
Then they went on to make Battle for Middle Earth, which was probably the best RTS of its time and still ranks high on my list (though it was nice of them to take away the dedicated servers).
Then they went back to their old formula. Battle for middle earth 2 was ok but weaker than its predecessor, The expansion was a joke (trolls marching in formation. Seriously?) After that was Red Alert 3, which I would be ashamed to put my name on. And then finally C&C 4, which has become so distant from reality that no one is sure what they are playing anymore.
Ea could have put BFME on Steam, Impulse and Gamersgate for 9.99 and at least given continuing the game a chance, but true to EA's form, glance at the bottom line, then pull the plug.
Just make C&C Generals 2, and for the love of god put some thought into it.Posted at 1:08PM on Jan 28th 2011 by Solice
