This week's launch of Final Fantasy XIV (for Collector's Edition owners; regular edition gamers get to play on September 30) comes with a unexpected side effect. Today Sunflex Europe announced plans to release a console-like PC game controller made for Square Enix's fantasy MMO game.
However, as you can see from the image above the device looks pretty much like a Dual Shock PS2/PS3 controller. In fact there doesn't seem to be any real features that make using this controller better than the normal PC mouse-keyboard set up. If you want to have a Final Fantasy XIV-branded controller it will be released alongside the regular edition of the game.

Exactly, which is why Square made damn sure that the game was horribly convoluted control-wise, to the point where the "Software" mouse and horrid keyboard controls make using them pointless, when compared to a basic controller, just like FF11.Posted at 10:35PM on Sep 23rd 2010 by devilsei

Milky Milky. They aren't any good in the MMO department, but now they want to create a controller for their MMO. Eh I will pass, unless they designed the controller to have auto target function I will still say no. I already left my imaginary collector's edition in the store and will be doing the same with my imaginary standard collector's edition as well. Oh and I will always like controller over keyboard and mouse. I don't have to pay so much for some gaming mouse that has perfect precision.Posted at 9:41PM on Sep 23rd 2010 by Rosli
