There's little doubt that out of all the DLC expansions that have come out so far, Lair of the Shadowbroker is the one that's been a long time coming.
Mass Effect players who chose Liara as romantic interest in the first game can revisit, and perhaps rekindle, that past relationship. Or they can choose to bring it to its conclusion if they chose to pursue a new romance in the sequel. Beyond following-up on a long lost relationship, the campaign ties up loose ends that span both games. In pursuing the reclusive Shadowbroker, players pull the mask one of the most mysterious characters in the series while bringing closure to one of the most significant side stories in
Mass Effect 2.

Hacking a bunch of computer terminals for served as a brief introduction to this campaign while showing off the new and improved Liara T'Soni, who has grown a lot tougher during Shepherd's two year absence being dead. She also picked up a major vendetta against the Shadowbroker, which involves Shepherd in a number of ways, so Cerberus decides to step in with a lead on his location. The Shadowbroker is famous for having dirt on just about individual and government agency in the galaxy, so breaking into his secret hideout is no easy task. At the same time, players are faced with the choice between encouraging the meaner, butt-kicking Liara, or trying to keep her from losing all the innocence she had in the first game.
The campaign plays out with the usual
Mass Effect intensity, which includes a short chase in a flying car, gun battles where enemies close in from all sides, and some challenging boss fights. Best of all, you get to break into the Shadowbroker's secret hideout, which is designed in spectacular detail. Although isn't any new weaponry outside of a few upgrades, taking down the Shadowbroker brings in something much better. Players have a chance to tap into his entire information network with the option of using it to do good deeds if they have enough money available. There's also technology that can locate mineral rich planets, most notably an Element Zero heavy world, and a console to reallocate skill points for any of your companions. Players can bring up information on any of the Normandy crew, including DLC characters, but these dossiers don't reveal anything that's not already known.

All things considered, Lair of the Shadowbroker is the perfect DLC expansion, especially for characters that were imported from the first game. There's even a nice little in-joke about how hacking in the first game could be solved by using plenty of omni-gel. It might come off as feeling a little short, but the importance of its content to the overall story - not to mention the opportunity to bring closure to your relationship - makes it a must-have.
ungh. That means I need to re-install the PC version just to play this through.
