OnLive taking pricing cues from Steam

You may have noticed that the OnLive PC/Mac streaming game service has the occasional weekend sale and this past weekend the service put all of its 28 currently available games on sale for 50 percent off. In a chat with Gamasutra, OnLive's director of engineering Joe Bentley admits that its pricing experiments have been inspired by Steam's own online sales.

Bentley says these sales give OnLive a better idea of what their customers will pay for, saying, "It gives the opportunity for consumers to come in and score a deal. For publishers, it can really drive a significant amount of sales where they might have not been able to do that at standard prices." While OnLive is letting people try out the service free for the first year with a price of $4.95 a month for the second year, Bentley says additional pricing plans will be revealed "soon".
