Stargate Resistance dev team hit with lawsuit over game's assets

The trials and tribulations over the multiplayer action shooter Stargate Resistance are not over yet, thanks to a new lawsuit from the game's former developer Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment against the game's new dev team at Dark Orbit Games. According to Courthouse News, shareholders for Cheyenne Mountain claim that members of Dark Orbit Games and Fresh Start Studios transferred the assets of Stargate Resistance illegally and for a fraction for what the game is worth.

Stargate Resistance was launched in February 2010 by Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment as a last ditch effort to stay afloat after plans to make an MMO game, Stargate Worlds, fell by the wayside. It wasn't enough and Cheyenne Mountain filed for bankruptcy just a few days after Stargate Resistance was released via digital download. In March it was announced that development of the game would continue at Fresh Start Studios which was later renamed as Dark Orbit Games. The development team has released several bug and content updates for the game. However the shareholders of Cheyenne Mountain now say the transfer to the new company was "improper" and want the game's assets returned, along with $10 million in damages for "breach of contract, civil conspiracy, fraudulent transfer, tortious interference and unjust enrichment."
