Crusader Kings II officially announced for 2012 release

With Victoria 2 now completed and released, the internal development team at publisher Paradox Interactive has now revealed its plans for its next historical strategy game at Gamescom. In a not-too-shocking move, its next game is yet another sequel, Crusader Kings II, the follow up to the company's cult hit that was released way back in 2004.

The long awaited sequel once again is set during the Middle Ages period of Europe as players take on the role of a Christian noble. Players can relive the Crusades, build up nation-states, deal with the Pope, and carry your character and his bloodline through 400 years of history. The game will also have multplayer support for up to 32 player. Crusader Kings II is still a long ways off; it's currently due for release in the first quarter of 2012.
