The news hasn't been good for Sega of late, at least from a financial percepective. The publisher has already admitted that sales of the long-in-development action-RPG Alpha Protocol, released about two months ago, were not good enough to justify a sequel. However Sega's parent company Sega Sammy Holdings has reported a profit for the last quarter that ended June 30.
Revenues went up a whopping 51 percent to 91.3 billion yen for the quarter while the company generated a profit of 7 billion yen. However most of those numbers game from the pachinko and pachislot division of Sega Sammy's business. Alpha Protocol's sales numbers came to just 700,000 copies worldwide (that likely includes the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 versions).
