First XCOM trailer is all wet and nasty
We will say this about this revamped XCOM; the aliens are a bit more frightening than those slightly goofy gray aliens from the original games. They are all black and liquid like a BP oil slick (and how ironic is that?). Hopefully we will see more of this quasi-1950's world when we see the game in action at E3 2010. In the meantime the IGN trailer can be seen after the jump.

In a year or two this'll be bundled with the Shadowrun game.Posted at 9:57PM on Jun 10th 2010 by elle
That is not irony.Posted at 1:21AM on Jun 11th 2010 by SFLegend
I'm actually less interested after watching the trailer. The settings and such are all wrong, and the gameplay feels like Bioshock.Posted at 2:26AM on Jun 11th 2010 by Unknown
Well that looked pretty interesting to me and will take a wait and see approach but I like what I'm seeing so far.
Remember, everyone was saying the same thing about Fallout 3 before it was released.Posted at 3:20AM on Jun 11th 2010 by Dero
Go figure, a game made by the Bioshock team, creating a game that resembles Bioshock.
I dunno, sorta like Fallout 3 and Elder scrolls?
It's an updated version of an old IP...what's hard to understand about that?
Hollywood and the game industry rehash old IP's all the time.Posted at 7:41AM on Jun 11th 2010 by Strangepowers

And exactly WTF does this have to do with X-com as we know it? Well it has humans vs aliens. Is there anything else? ANYTHING? The game looks cool from the trailer (if not a rip off of Bioshock) but I simply cannot get past the fact that they're blatantly ripping off the beloved name of a classic game franchise and slapping it on a completely and utterly unrelated product. The move may very well have cost them a sale as I just find the move tasteless and desperate.
