Big Download celebrates its second birthday

While we had been posting news stories for about a month before the official launch, Big Download officially let the public in on what we have been doing two years ago today on May 8, 2008. Since that time we have tried our best to be not only a great place to get fast and free PC game downloads but to keep you informed and hopefully entertained about what is going on in the PC game industry.

Since we launched their have been a lot of changes in how we pay and play PC games and even how developers make PC games. We have seen the free-to-play business model rise up to become a much more important part of the industry and shown how the digital download model can turn small independent developers into profitable game makers. We have seen small but innovative titles that have turned heads while some other heavily hyped and expensive games have flopped. While we have read that the PC game industry is "dead" more times than we can count, the truth is that it is more vibrant and more expansive than ever and we think it's going to continue for a long time to come. We thank all of you who have come to our site over the past two years and hope you continue to do so in the years to come (oh, and tell your friends).
