  1. Summary
  2. Background
  3. Hype

The Civilization series is one of the most revered franchises in all of gaming. Its depth and addictive qualities get new players with each iteration, and each is far better than the last. The latest was Civilization 4, and it set the bar for turn-based strategy games. It's extremely accessible, but has such a huge amount of content and customizability that it appeals to everyone, from the casual to the hardcore. Now Firaxis wants to step it up with Civilization 5 and make a game that improves on the already virtual perfection of Civilization 4. This is going to be quite the daunting task, given that Civilization 4 was an amazing game with very few flaws. It's here that we have reservations, and whenever it's time to pull back on the reins of hype, it's also time for All You Need To Know.
