If Digital Illusions has their way with the post release plans of Battlefield Bad Company 2, they will not be charge its fans for any future downloadable maps for their hit first person shooter. DICE senior producer Patrick Bach is quoted in Computer and Video Games as saying, "We don't ever want to charge for our maps and insisted to (publisher) EA that this attitude was crucial when it came to keeping our community happy and playing together."
Of course PC gamers are used to getting free official maps for their games. id, Epic, Valve and others have offered that kind of service for their titles for over a decade. Still it's nice that some developers are sticking with that kind of philosophy when it comes to post-release content.
