It's taken a while longer than first thought but the official Croteam web site has now announced that the Deathmatch mode for their first person shooter revamp Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter is hopefully coming sometime this week. The free update for the game will add seven Deathmatch maps to the game. Some will be all new while others will be remakes from previous Serious Sam games.

It won't just be the new game mode and maps, however. The update will also add new features such as a spectator mode. There will be improvements to text chat, viewing server details and more. In the meantime we are still awaiting the release of the remake of Serious Sam: The Second Encounter which should be out later this April.
