Command and Conquer is one of the absolute staples of PC gaming and real-time strategy games, and has a distinctly unique identity. While contemporaries, like Warcraft or Supreme Commander, have moved more towards extremes such as heavy micromanagement or grand strategy as time has passed, Command and Conquer has stayed mostly the same in terms of core design. This is all set to change in Command and Conquer 4, however. The biggest departure for the series yet, it marks the end of the Tiberian storyline and the end of Kane while drastically changing what everyone knows about Command and Conquer. Since it's radically altering itself, it's a good idea to take a critical look at just what is changing and see if it's a step in the right direction or a failure waiting to happen.
